Mary Eva Allphin Massie was born Sept. 10, 1926 in Glencoe, Kentucky and passed away Sept. 17, 2021 in Florence, Kentucky at the age of 95. She was the daughter of the late Daisy Dean Smith and Harry Lee Allphin, Sr.
On Dec. 6, 1947 Mary was united in marriage to Raymond Massie, who preceded her in death. Additionally, she was preceded in death by a son: Roger Franklin Massie and a daughter: Mary Kathleen Massie.
Mary was a retired Registered Nurse who served her community through her work at several local hospitals including Bethesda, St. Elizabeth, Booth Memorial and Grant County Hospital. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. While Mary was never called to active duty, she was ready to serve her country as a member of the Army Nurse Cadet Corps. In her free time, especially in recent years, she loved decorating Christmas Trees and playing Bingo.
She is survived by 3 sons: William "Bill" Raymond Massie of Crittenden, Rick Glenn Massie (Jeana Haar) of Verona and William Clarence Sutherland of Crittenden; 2 daughters: Wanda Marie Webster (Pat) of Verona and Nancy Ruth Massie of Verona; a sister: Glenna Rice (Donnie) of Edgewood; 15 Grandchildren; and 11 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral services will 2:00 PM, Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021 at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona. Visitation will be 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Hill Crest Cemetery in Dry Ridge.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the New Bethel Baptist Church, 2022 Verona-Mudlick Rd., Verona, KY 41092.
