Mary Evalyn Faulkner

November 13, 1927 — November 24, 2024

Mary Evalyn Simpson Faulkner, a resident of Dry Ridge, KY, peacefully passed at her home, surrounded by family on Sunday, November 24, 2024. Evalyn was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother during her incredible 97 years of life.  She was known for her warmth, playfulness, and the undeniably loving spirit she brought to her entire family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Evalyn was born on November 13, 1927, to the late William McKinley Simpson and Bessie Mae Milner Simpson.  On Dec. 24, 1947, Evalyn was united in matrimony to Jouett Dean Faulkner, who preceded her in death after 66 years of marriage. She was a member of the Mt. Olivet Christian Church in Williamstown, KY.  She was also a member of Eastern Star and the Grant County Women’s Club.

One of Evalyn’s most significant accomplishments was raising her five children and devoting her life to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom she held as her pride and joy.  Family get-togethers for holidays and any occasion delighted her, especially when all family and friends were able to attend. Evalyn found much joy in preparing meals - her fried chicken and gravy dinner and jam cake were family favorites. Her love for traveling brought out the happy free spirit that defined her.  Even at the age of 90, she was blessed to have made an amazing, memory-filled journey to Greece. She also enjoyed reading, playing Rook and sitting in the sun.  Of all her enjoyment in life, being playful, especially with her grandchildren ranked at the top of the list. Her conversations, whether in person or by facetime, never ended without her getting in the last “I love you more!”

Evalyn is survived by one son, Lee (Janet) Faulkner, four daughters, Sharon (Lee) Cherry, Alice (Roger) Neumeister, Tina (Mike “Woody”) Dunn, Kathy Verville, twelve grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.  In addition to her husband Jouett, Evalyn is preceded in death by her son Jeff Faulkner, brothers Anderson, Layle and Albert Simpson, sister, Wilma Stetter, granddaughter Jessica Faulkner, grandson Austin Cherry, and great grandson Tristan Griffith.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 10am-2pm at the Elliston – Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown, KY.  Funeral services will be at 2pm.  Pastor Dave Cahoon will be officiating services.  The burial will take place at the KY Veteran’s Cemetery, North in Williamstown, KY on Monday, December 2, 2024 at 12 noon. Memorials are suggested to COTA (Children’s Organ Transplant Association) to benefit great grandson Trenton Faulkner or the Mt. Olivet Christian Church in Williamstown, KY.
