Mary Margaret Chandler , age 82, passed from this life on Saturday, December 10, 2022.
Born April 17, 1940 to the late Charles Augustus and Cecil Rose Richardson, she graduated from Owen County High School, Owenton, Kentucky in 1958 and on December 23, 1959, she married Kenneth Chandler. They would be wife and husband for 63 years.
“We’ll call her Pete,” her father said when he first laid eyes on her, and she was Pete to one and all for all her life, as a “stunningly beautiful” Miss Owen County, as a mother and farm wife who could house tobacco as the man on the bottom handing up or bottle feed an orphaned calf, and as well-respected member of the business communities in both Owen and Grant Counties. She worked first as the bookkeeper at Kindoll and Riley Farm Equipment and the Tri-Village Water District and later partner in Richardson Contracting. Pete was also an excellent cook who enjoyed entertaining family and friends, whether it was a holiday gathering, a family card party, or just a neighbor dropping in.
Pete is survived by her husband, a daughter, Elizabeth, a son-in-law, Dan Mahoney and a brother, Charlie Richardson. She is preceded in death by a brother, Billy Gene Richardson.
