Mary Gladys (Smith) Mastin

March 17, 1933 — December 2, 2021

Mary “Sis” Gladys Smith Mastin, 88, of Cincinnati, OH, formerly of the New Columbus Community of Owen County, passed away Thursday December 2, 2021 at her residence. Born Thursday March 17, 1933 in Owen Co., KY she was the daughter of the late Dallas and Iva Lee Barber Smith.

On February 21, 1953, Mary was united in marriage to James Calvin Mastin; he preceded her in death on January 21, 2009.  She was a committed housewife and homemaker. She was a graduate of Bethany High School in Owen Co. where she graduated as Salutatorian. Going to the casinos, fishing and taking trips to Florida were among her favorite pastimes but she loved nothing more than her “family gatherings”.  She was a member of New Columbus Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons: Terry (Linda) Mastin, Jeff Mastin; three daughters: Cheryl (Bill) Spivey, Karen (Jeff) Standley, Tina (Mike) Mastin, all of Norwood, OH; one brother: Joe (Nita Ann) Smith of Goshen, OH and a son-n-law: Tom White. Thirteen grandchildren and 25 great and great-grandchildren also survive, all of whom lovingly called her “Mam-Ma”. In addition to her husband, James, she was preceded in death by a daughter: Sherry White, a brother: Denver Smith and a sister: Freda Parr.

Visitation will be Wednesday December 8, 2021 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at McDaniel Funeral Home in Corinth, KY.  Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Brad Vincent officiating. Burial will follow in New Columbus Cemetery.
