Mary Kathryn Worthington

Mary Kathryn Gouge Worthington was born October 1, 1924 in Sherman, Kentucky and passed away February 25, 2024 in Edgewood, Kentucky at the age of 99.  She was the daughter of the late Fred Hutcherson and Maude Sarah Simpson Gouge.

Mary was a retired clerk for the Grant County Court System.  She was a graduate of Dry Ridge High School and a faithful member of the Crittenden Baptist Church.  In her free time she loved playing cards, especially Rook and Euchre.  In her later years Mary enjoyed playing Bingo.

On Sept. 18, 1948 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Robert Harold "Bob" Worthington, Sr.  In addition to her husband Bob in 2006, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jane Franks.  Mary was the last of her family of five siblings and was preceded in death by her 3 brothers, Leo Gouge, Prentice Gouge and Billy Gouge, and her only sister, Christine Blackburn.

Mary is survived by her son: Robert H. "Robbie" Worthington, Jr. and his wife, Paula, of Williamstown; a daughter: Jeanne Kaye Worthington Reid and her husband, Carroll, of Frankfort; a son-in-law: Kenny Franks; eight grandchildren: Jillian (Chris) West, Jonathan (Heather) Hellard, Tyler Hellard, Robert Harold (Sheridan) Worthington, III, Jessica (Chris) McDaniel, Kayla (Robert) Chappell, Craig (Dana) Franks and Brian (Laura) Franks; 18 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.

Visitation will be 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown.  Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the Hill Crest Cemetery.
