Michael Glenn Petty, 65, of Williamstown, KY, passed away Sunday May 15, 2022 at his residence after a lengthy illness. Born Thursday January 17, 1957 in Covington, KY, he was the son of the late Eldon Glenn Petty and Elaine J. Bowling.
Michael was an OTR truck driver for ABF Freight System, where he was awarded (on two different occasions) a 1,000,000 Mile Safe Driving Award. Trap shooting, corvettes cars, boating on Lake Cumberland and Country Music were among his greatest enjoyments. He will long be remembered for how he meticulously manicured and received intense pleasure from working on his yard, causing all his neighbors to rave over its extreme beauty. He was a member of Tri-City Sportsman Club, a Kentucky Colonel, member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Verona.
He leaves to cherish his memory, one son: Austin Michael Patrick (Brittany) Petty of Georgetown, KY; two daughters: Kirsten (Matthew) Racic of Amelia, OH, Rita Johnson of Walton, KY; one sister: Connie (Gregg) Adkins-Ihle of West Chester, OH; one brother: Eldon Glenn Petty, Jr. of Independence, KY; his step-mother: Margie Petty; step-brothers: Bobby (Jill) Bowling; Doug (Paula) Leugers; and step-sisters: Patti Ashcraft, Kathy (George) Robison and Julie (Joe) Ludwig. Three grandchildren also survive: Christian Petty, Josephine Racic, Augustus Racic, with one” on the way”, Weston Petty, along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be Friday May 20, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church in Verona. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 with Rev. Dean Tolliver officiating. Burial will follow in Independence Cemetery.
