Naomi Jean Knight , 89, of Crittenden, KY, entered into her eternal home on Sunday June 30, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center – Florence, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 4, 1934 in Covington, KY, she was the daughter of the late Howard William and Mabel Gertrude Pribble Flairty.
On November 14, 1952 she was united in marriage to Wayne Allen Knight; he preceded her in death on October 29, 1991. Up until just a few days ago, she was mowing her yard, which she loved doing, and was actively involved in maintaining her vegetable garden as well as her flower garden. Spending time with family brought Naomi her greatest fulfillment in life, which included eating at Kellie’s Homestead Restaurant and watching the shows at Barnwood Bravo Theater in Dry Ridge. She will long be remembered for her genuine love for her family and cooking all those meals at family get-togethers. For many years she proudly earned the name “Pusher” for pushing travelers at the CVG Airport in Greater Cincinnati to their designated gate upon their arrival time. But nothing made her any more proud than specifically being requested to be the official “pusher” for the late Rosemary Clooney; over the years they developed a special friendship. She was an avid sports fan; watching U.K Basketball and the Cincinnati Reds was always a highlight of her day. She was a longtime member of Gardnersville Christian Church in Demossville.
Carrying on her legacy of love and commitment to family include one son: Gary (Pam) Knight of Crittenden; one daughter: Debbie (Randall) Hurley of Demossville; two sisters: Blanche Cox of Bellevue, Doris Hofstetter of Alexandria; and one brother: Kenneth (Sue) Flairty of Claryville. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Jeana (Owen) Henry, Anthony Marksbury, Daniel (Sarah) Marksbury, Monica (Eric) Elliott, Jessica Newsome, Maciena (Phillip) Justice and Rebecca (Tyler) Jones, along with 12 great-grandchildren: Elliott Henry, Haylie Justice, Lucas Justice, Randy Justice, Chloe Justice, Kyle Marksbury, Ivy Marksbury, Dakota Lowe, Jaden Scott, Carly Marksbury, Shelby Marksbury and Tyler Marksbury and a great-great granddaughter, Lilith Lowe, all of whom lovingly called her “ Grandma Knight”. In addition to her husband, Wayne Allen Knight, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Newsome.
Family and friends may gather for visitation on Saturday July 6, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. at Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home – Dry Ridge. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 with Rev. Mike Flynn and Rev. Ray Gaines officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Gardnersville Cemetery in Demossville.
Serving as Pallbearers will be: Phil, Tyler, Owen, Jeana, Eric, Tony, Todd, John Allen and Uncle Kenny.
