Norma Jane Angle Townsend Smith

Norma Jane Angle Townsend Smith, a Corinth, Kentucky resident, passed away at her home early Saturday morning, June 1st, 2024 at the age of 88. She was born in Middletown, Ohio on Sunday, February 23rd, 1936 to the late Claude and Daisy Angle. In addition to her parents, Norma is preceded in death by two husbands, Raymond Townsend (d. July 8, 1972) and Kenneth Smith (d. June 6, 1999).

Norma graduated in 1954 with the first graduating class of the new Grant County High School, that which is now the Grant County Middle School. After high school, she worked at Cincinnati Bell for over 22 years as a telephone operator until her retirement from the company in the late 70s. Following retirement, Norma and her husband became the proprietors of a number of restaurants throughout Kentucky, including the 'Dairy Island' in Florence. She always had a knack for landscaping, keeping a beautiful garden and yard full of decorative foliage, flowers, shrubs, and ever climbing vines. Animals always held a special place in Norma’s heart. She loved spending time with her pets, especially her cats; she will be dearly missed by her precious 'Little Kitty.'

Norma is survived by her adoring daughter, Cynthia Moore of Corinth Kentucky; as well as her two cherished grandchildren, Julie (John) Pitts of Williamstown, Kentucky and John (Tatia) Moore of Taylor Mill, Kentucky. She leaves a lasting legacy of her four treasured great-grandchildren: Elliott Pitts, Edison Pitts, Kash Moore, and Korbyn Moore.

A visitation for Norma will be held on Wednesday, June 5th, 2024 at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Corinth, Kentucky from 11:00AM to 2:00PM. Following the visitation, a procession will be led to the Corinth I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Corinth, Kentucky for a graveside service where Norma will be laid to rest.
