Octavia Mae Mcqueary

Octavia Mae McQueary was born Feb. 6, 1938 in Martin Co., Kentucky and passed away February 22, 2023 in Edgewood, Kentucky at the age of 85.  She was the daughter of the late Lucian Bowen and Ellie Mae Spalding Yelton.

On April 23, 1955, Tavy, as she was known to her family and friends, was united in marriage to the love of her life, Hugh McQueary.  In addition to her husband of almost 68 years she is survived by her daughter: Linda Sue McQueary Peters and her husband, Mike, of Owenton; a sister: Wanda Ivey of Owenton; two granddaughters: Amberly Harris and her husband, Matt, of Walton and Jessica Dipaola of Owenton; and 4 great grandchildren: Kyle Harris, Paige Lindley, Riley Dipaola and Kennedy Ferguson.

She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Gertrude Hardy and Delores Baker; and her twin brother who died as an infant, David Bowen.

Tavy was a member of Redemption Baptist Church in Latonia and a homemaker.  She enjoyed bowling and loved crafting, especially crochet.  She also spent her free time working puzzles and playing Bunco with her friends.  One of her favorite pastimes was cooking and she was known for making the best Buckeye candy.  She will be best remembered for her devoted love to her family and how deeply she cared for them.

A Memorial services will be held Saturday March 4, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Redemption Baptist Church 2735 Ashland Ave. Latonia, KY 41015
