Otto J. Bostic

Otto J. Bostic, 99, of Williamstown, KY, formerly of Columbus, OH, entered into his eternal rest Thursday February 22, 2024 at his residence. Born on Saturday June 28, 1924 in Gallipolis, OH (Gallia County), he was the son of the late Otto and Daisy Bostic. Otto led an adventurous life, leaving a legendary impact upon so many lives. In 1943, Otto was united in marriage to the love of his life, the former Geraldine E. Boster, a union that lasted 66 years; she preceded him in death on January 24, 2009. Upon graduation from Cadmus High School in Cadmus, OH, he entered the United States Army Air Corp during World War II where he served as a Radio Operator on a B-25, one of America’s most famous airplanes of WW II. It was during that war that American Veterans earned the right to be called “The Greatest Generation”. Over the years, Otto‘s life was a memoir of many exciting adventures, among those were owning and operating a jewelry store for many years; he was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeye fan. He was a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Columbus, OH and held membership in the Masonic Lodge (West Virginia). He will be sorely missed by his two daughters: Barbara J. (Ira) Gayheart of Dry Ridge, KY, Diana Hunt of Highlands, NC, along with his four grandchildren: Tiffany Montague of New Liberty, KY, Tonya (Richard Hardesty) Gayheart of Wheatley, KY, Kaitlyn Hunt of Paradise Valley, AZ, Cameron Hunt of Scottsdale, AZ and his six great-grandchildren: Riley Montague, Addison Montague, Mallory Hardesty, Caroline Montague, Lucy Hardesty and River Jessen, all of whom lovingly called him “Grandpa”. In addition to his wife, Geraldine, he was preceded in death by all his siblings which included five brothers and two sisters. Arrangements are incomplete at this time but Schoedinger East Funeral Home will be handling arrangements, located at 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, OH 43232. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Columbus. Family will receive friends 12 Noon – 1:00 pm Monday, February 26, 2024 at Schoedinger East, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, OH 43232, where the funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm. Interment with military honors will be held 10 am Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5600 E. Broad St. Columbus, OH 43213. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Bostic’s memory to St. Elizabeth Foundation, c/o Hospice Programs, 1 Medical Village Dr. Edgewood, KY 41017.
