Paul Meredith Lawrence , 91, widower of Pauline Lawrence, died Friday December 28, 2018 at his residence in Dry Ridge, KY. Born March 25, 1927 in the Mt. Zion Community of Grant County, he was the son of the late Roy and Cornelia Green Lawrence.
Paul started his work career as a dairy farmer. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II; he returned home and on June 28, 1949, in Covington, KY, he married the love of his life, the former Pauline Armstrong. This union lasted 37 wonderful years and proved to be the beginning of a long lasting, faithful and committed relationship. Over the years, he and Pauline were always involved in churches in the community in which they lived. He taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and served as a deacon for many years. His current membership is at Dry Ridge Baptist Church. He was a 62 year member of the Crittenden-Dry Ridge Masonic Lodge, a Shriner and a 32nd Degree Mason.
Upon getting married, he began a career with Kroger, where he worked his way up to management as a Quality Control Dairy Inspector. He retired in 1982.
He was a devoted father to two daughters: Vicki (Bernie) Lozier of Dry Ridge, KY, Marita Lawrence of Richwood, KY and one son: Meredith Lawrence of Sparta, KY. Additional survivors include one sister: Eunice Spegal of the Mt. Zion Community of Grant County. Fourteen grandchildren also survive: Marisa, Ian, Justin, Brittany, Brandy, Austin, Laranda, Laramie, Carlie, Ryan, Laryn, Eric, Cassandra and Emily, along with 18 great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Gabriel, Juli Kay, Charlotte, Claire, Emily, Kennedy, Alexa, Rylann, Nicholas, Brandt, Blaire, Bryant, Bekka-Jean, Evan, Kyle, ClaireKelly and a newborn, not yet named. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Kathleen Webster, Janice Jump, Janette Sue Lawrence and one brother: John Lawrence.
The family wishes to lovingly acknowledge MaryLou Stamper for being a loyal, steadfast friend and confidant for over 30 years.
Visitation will be Wednesday January 2, 2019 from 12 Noon to 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. A Masonic service will begin at 1:00; the funeral service will immediately follow at the church with Rev. Donnie Kannady officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife.
Serving as pallbearers are: Ian Lozier, Justin Lawrence, Robin Jump, Ron West, Jose Chavez, Jr. and Matthew Chavez; honorary pallbearers will be: Bernie Lozier and Jose Chavez.
