Randy Middleton was born June 19, 1949 to Randall and Juanita Hutsell Middleton in Crittenden, Kentucky. He passed away March 27, 2021 in Dry Ridge, Kentucky at the age of 71.
On April 25, 1969 Randy was united in marriage to Debbie Lucas Middleton. In addition to his wife of 51 years he is survived by his daughter: Carmen (Rick Webb) Lockard of Georgetown; his son: Greg (Misty) Middleton of Williamstown; 4 grandchildren: Beckam & Paige Lockard and Carly & Haley Middleton; a sister-in-law: Marrene (Bob) Bradford of Stuart, FL; an aunt: Gloria Middleton of Dry Ridge; several nieces and nephews; and his special girl: Briana Webb.
Randy was an extremely hard worker throughout his life, but always loved to have fun, joke with his friends and hang out. He loved farming and was a lifelong farmer. He graduated from Williamstown High School in the Class of 1968. He then went on to serve his country in the US Navy Reserves as Corpsman from 1968-1975 and spent 2 years of active duty at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital. Randy also worked at Ryerson & Son Steel Company for 15 years from 1968-1984 as well as American Airlines for 11 years from 1983-1994. In 1984 he began his career as a police officer and worked as a Dry Ridge City Officer for 2 1/2 years. He then worked at the Grant County Sheriff's Office as Chief Deputy for 10 1/2 years before being elected Sheriff in 1997 and serving until 2006.
Randy also served his community in many volunteer roles. He was a very active member and Elder of Dry Ridge Christian Church and a member of the Dry Ridge Volunteer Fire Department. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Sheriff's Association from 2000-2006. Randy also served on the Board of Meadowview Estates and the Board of Grant County Cooperative Extension and he was a member of the Cattleman's Association and Gideons International. He was voted Grant Countian of the Year in 2006.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home in Dry Ridge. Visitation will be 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Hill Crest Cemetery in Dry Ridge.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to the Grant County Shop with a Cop or to the Dry Ridge Christian Church.
