Raymond “P.J.” Salyers , 80, of Williamstown, KY, entered his eternal home on Sunday February 23, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center – Florence. Born on January 5, 1945, he was the son of the late Kash and Millie Lindon Salyers.
For many years, he was a long distance truck driver for Cain Trucking; every week he hauled freight back and forth to California. He had a special love for muscle cars and was a skilled mechanic. The three things he always said that scared him in life was…Snakes, Needles and the IRS.
P.J. endeared himself to everyone through his ability to make people laugh, always telling a good joke and leaving everyone with a smile. Leaving the room with a joke and always having the last word became his trademark. It’s only fitting that he gets the last words today. His infamous words that will echo in our minds for years to come is: “Keep your gown down.” Although he did not hold any church membership, he proudly declared his love for the Lord as his Savior.
Those left to carry on his legacy include his twin sons: Raymond “Fatty” Leo (Charlene) Salyers, Donald "Spider” Ray Salyers, both of Williamstown; one daughter: Melinda “Babe” Delph (Brian “Caveman”) Miller of Crittenden; the love of his life: Linda Marie Salyers of Dry Ridge, along with his grandson: Jake Leo “Jakers” Salyers and granddaughter: Chelcey Marie-Jane Salyers, brothers, Bill (Lisa) Salyers of Lima, OH, Drexel Salyers of Hazel Green, KY, and a sister, Margie Salyers Elam of Caney, KY and numerous, nieces, nephews and cousins who love and miss him.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Lula Mae "Blue" Salyers Gibson, seven brothers, Leo, George, Melvin, Jim Allen, Donald, Earl, Johnny Salyers.
Visitation will be Saturday March 1, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. at Stanley Funeral Homes – Williamstown. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 with Bro. Tommy Simpson officiating. Serving as pallbearers: Dale Bishop, Doyle Cain, Steve Bolog, Arnold Bolog, Aaron Salyers, Jeremy Lilly.
