Rev. Ronald Lee Angell

August 11, 1939 — February 3, 2025

Reverend Ronald "Ronnie" Angell passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025.  Upon passing he certainly heard the words he has longed to hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”

Ronnie, a Pendleton County native, was born a twin on August 11, 1939; the seventh of nine children to George and Ina Lee Angell.  All of whom have passed except his youngest brother, “Jimbo”.  A great-grandson, Ty Offutt, also preceded his passing.

In September of 1960, Ronnie married Rebecca "Becky" Wallace. They shared 58 years raising their family and pastoring various churches before her passing in 2018.

He was well known for his infectious smile, love of his family and fiery sermons.  He was a fierce competitor who loved to play and pitch fast pitch softball.

Ronnie accepted the call into the ministry in 1968. This was a calling he and Becky fulfilled whole-heartedly. He was a dynamic preacher and pastor with more than fifty years faithfully following Paul's instruction in Second Timothy 4:2 "to preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine." His sermons were impassioned, pointed and poignant.  He was a devoted pastor as evidenced in his visiting, teaching and prayers. Historically, Ronnie typically worked as a bi-vocational pastor, but his church family always came first.  He made innumerable hospital and home visits to encourage his church members and conducted countless funerals comforting those that mourn.  He was always ready at a moment's notice to serve in whatever capacity needed.

In his later years he delighted in meeting friends at McDonald's for breakfast (and sometimes lunch) to share stories of playing softball, basketball, hunting, fishing and farming.  He regaled in his days as a proud Butler High School Alumni where he was recognized as “Best Personality” of his senior class. He never met a stranger; everyone was considered a friend.  His charismatic personality shined throughout his life.

Carrying on Ronnie's legacy are his children: Ronita (Allen) Wolfe, Reggie Angell and Robin (Roy) Chapman; his grandchildren: Coleman Simpson, Ashlee (Kevin) Offutt, Caitlin Bolog, Hannah Wolfe, Becca Angell, Walker Angell, Ryan (Becky) Chapman and Rashelle (Zachary) Coldiron.  Ronnie also has two great-granddaughters and four great-grandsons that we are sure he would have loved to have started a basketball team with.
