Richard T. Longbons

Richard T. Longbons, 84, longtime resident of Crescent Springs, KY, died Wed., Oct. 20, 2021 at The Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, OH following a short illness.  He was a native of Sherman, Grant Co., KY, and the son of the late Gilbert W. and Mae True Longbons.

He was a 1955 graduate of Grant County High School where he played basketball and in 2015 was inducted into the Grant Co. High School Sports Hall of Fame. He also played basketball at Chipola College in Florida and later received degrees in education from the University of Kentucky and Xavier University.  He formerly owned and managed Caldwell Electric in Williamstown.  For many years Richard taught science, health and physical education to junior high and high school students in Northern Kentucky schools and the Cincinnati Public Schools.  He was also a former basketball coach and assistant coach in various area schools as well as having coached track, cross country, football and tennis teams.  He was a member of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his son, Chad Longbons, Crescent Springs, KY, his daughter, Michelle (Kenny) Marhoffer, Wooster, OH, and several nephews and nieces.  In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his faithful companion, Janet F. Caldwell Longbons in 2017, and his sister, Lynda L. Sewak in 2000.

Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25 at the Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Williamstown, KY. 41097.  There will also be visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26 at the Florence Baptist Temple, 1898 Florence Pike, Burlington, KY. 41006 with a funeral service at the church at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday.  Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, KY.
