Robert Lance Reynolds, of Williamstown, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, January 4th, 2024 at the University of Cincinnati Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio following a hard-fought battle with heart disease; he was 70 years old. He was born on Monday, June 1st, 1953 in Oil City, Pennsylvania to the late Holland and Elizabeth Reynolds. Robert began early life with his family in Pennsylvania along the Allegheny River until his father, Holland, passed tragically in a tugboat accident. After Robert himself nearly drowned in the river one day when he was young, his mother, Betty, relocated the family to Rouseville, PA.
After high school, Robert served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War Era as an Aeronautics Mechanic, repairing and rebuilding the aircrafts used throughout the conflict. Following his time in the military, he worked construction, as well as a number of skilled labor positions including drywall framing and masonry. A lifelong mechanic of anything with an engine, Robert's first passion had been to work on his Triumph Trident 1974 motorcycle. In 2003 he received his Airframe and Powerplant Certification from the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. Robert later used that knowledge and his expertise as a lifelong mechanic to work on the aircrafts at Kalitta Air as an A&P Mechanic. There he became one of the team, meeting coworkers and friends that would become more like family. He worked at Kalitta for 4 years before retiring in August of 2019 due to his health, not his desire to stop working.
Robert traveled whenever he could throughout life, making friends and memories all across the world, including: Australia, Canada, Amsterdam, and France. The friends he made over the years, across the globe and here in Kentucky, are certainly the ones who will always cherish his memory, stories, and the time they shared with him. Robert is survived by his daughter, Trista Reynolds of Franklin, PA.
Robert will be laid to rest on Thursday, January 11th, 2024 at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown, KY. A grave side military service will be rendered to honor his time in the Marines, beginning promptly at 11:00AM under the rotunda of the Veterans Cemetery- 205 Eibeck Ln. Williamstown, KY 41097.
