Ronnie Kent Smith

Ronnie Kent Smith, 75, of Dry Ridge, KY, passed away Thursday May 27, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Hospice Center in Edgewood.  Born July 1, 1945 in the Mt. Zion Community of Grant County, he was the son of the late James Harold and Christine Anderson Smith.

On July 3, 1964, Ronnie was united in marriage to the former Barbara Mae Caldwell; she survives.  He was formerly employed as a sales clerk for S. M. Wigginton Men’s Store, Signode Industries, Bullock Penn Water District, but spent most of his life enjoying farming and being co-owner of Crittenden Farm Lawn and Garden. In 1977 he became a Kentucky Colonel.  He was a member of Crittenden Baptist Church.

He leaves to carry on his legacy, his wife of 57 years, Barbara Smith; one son: Keith (Andrea) Smith of Crittenden, one daughter: Carla Smith of Dry Ridge and two brothers: Darrell Smith of Dry Ridge and Warren (Sandy) Smith of Dry Ridge.  Four grandchildren also survive: Lane Smith, Kelly Smith, Alayna Barnes and Jared Barnes, all of whom lovingly called his “Papaw”.

Visitation will be Tuesday June 1, 2021 at Crittenden Baptist Church from 11:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m.  Funeral services will begin at 2:00 with Rev. Allen Livingood officiating.
