Rose Marie Champney

Rose Marie "Rosee" Champney, a Lakemoor, Illinois resident, passed away at her residence on Sunday, June 2nd, 2024 at the age of 90. She was born in Boone County, Kentucky on Monday, May 28th, 1934 to the late Walter and Ruth Vest. In addition to her parents, Rosee is preceded in death by her daughter, Tina Montoure, as well as her husband, Richard William Champney.

Rosee was a graduate of Walton-Verona High School and a member at the New Bethel Baptist Church. On Saturday, August 22nd, 1970, she married the love of her life, Willie. The loving couple were married for over 35 years until his passing in 2006. Rosee was a homemaker and as the mother of nine children, an incredibly family oriented person throughout life. In her younger years, she and Willie would travel as often as they could to visit and spend time with their children living across the states. During winters, the two became snowbirds and spent the colder months in Arizona over the years.

Rosee is survived by six daughters: Mary (Nick) Stein of Hawthorn Woods, IL, Stacey (Don) Herren of Knoxville, AR, Stef Wiley of Lakemoor, IL, Patti (Rich) Litowchak of McHenry, IL, Karla Champney of Denison, TX, and Kelly (Jeff) Champney-Greer of Roscoe, IL; as well as two sons: Richard (Kelly) Champney Jr. of Lapel, IN, and Michael (Ronda) Champney of Bourbonnais, IL. She leaves a lasting legacy of her 12 cherished grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; Rose was truly all about her family.

Funeral services for Rosee will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 8th, 2024 at Hamilton Stanley Funeral Home in Verona, KY.  Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of services. She will be laid to rest at the New Bethel Cemetery in Verona, Kentucky alongside her beloved Richard. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests any memorial donations to be made to the SPCA or to the ALS Association in Rose’s memory.
