Ruth Barnes of Corinth, Kentucky

April 7, 1937 - April 8, 2019

Mabel Ruth Barnes , 82, a Corinth resident, died Monday April 8, 2019 at University of Kentucky Medical Center from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born April 7, 1937 in La Follette, TN, she was the daughter of the late Bert and Blanche Renfro.

Ruth spent much of her life as a loving and compassionate caregiver, especially to the elderly. Much of her life centered around her love for life, people, animals and nature. Certainly, her love for her family always came first, but adding to the joy of her life also included karaoke, dancing, raising a beautiful flower garden, feeding all the birds in her neighborhood and taking care of all the stray dogs that came by. She has always been involved in the ministries of Community Family Church (Independence), Delhi Christian Center (Cincinnati) and most recently, New Bethel Baptist Church (Verona).

She leaves to mourn her passing, three sons: Keith (Selena) Barnes of Corinth, KY, Frank and Donald Barnes, both of Tennessee; two daughters: Karen (Jeff) Campbell of Homasassa, FL, Barbara Barnes of Richmond, IN and one sister: Imogene Wilson of La Follette, TN. Twelve grandchildren also survive: Christopher Colter, Ronald Barnes, Angie Turner, Tamela Turner, Christina Lynn Harmon, Mikey Barnes, Donnie Jack Barnes, Tommy Barnes, Randall Barnes, Susie Barnes, Diana Liggett and Daniel Barnes, along with 4 great-grandchildren: Destiny Harmon, Braelyn Harmon, Tiffany Washington and Kevin Turner, all of whom lovingly knew her as “Grandma”. She will also be missed by a very special friend and companion, her Terrier-Chihuahua dog, “Woody”. She was preceded in death by a grandson, A.J. Mullins and a daughter, Debbie Barnes.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday April 12, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home , Verona, with Rev. George Naylor officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 and go until the time of the funeral. Entombment will be in the New Bethel Cemetery in Verona, KY.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Memorial Memorial gifts may be made in Ruth's memory to:
