Ruth Adams West

Ruth Evelyn Adams West, 95, of Williamstown, KY slipped into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday November 29, 2022 at River Valley Nursing Home in Butler.  Born January 30, 1927 in Pendleton County, KY, she was the daughter of the late William Goble and Vadia Cecil Poore Adams.

Ruth was a graduate of Morgan High School in Pendleton County. On January 8, 1945, she was united in marriage to Marvin Blaine West; he preceded her in death on June 9, 2017. She was a dedicated housewife and homemaker. She quietly served as a Sunday School teacher, Treasurer and Secretary at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church; at the time of her passing she was the oldest living member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her love for flowers, especially marigolds; she had a passion for wearing hats, including straw hats and she enjoyed the pleasure of mowing her own yard.

She leaves to carry on her legacy, two sons:  Marvin Gayle (Darlene) West of Williamstown, Billy Ray (Marilyn) West of Shelbyville, KY; one daughter: Rita Carol (Mark) Bishop of Williamstown; a daughter-in-law: Diane West of Williamstown; one brother: Clarence (Betty Jo) Adams of Morgan, one sister-in-law, Mi Jean (Bob) Hendrix  Eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survive. In addition to her beloved husband, Marvin, she was preceded in death by a beloved son: Eddie West; four sisters: Dorothy Justice, Geneva Kells, Mildred Courtney, Cecil Williams and one brother: Harold Adams.

Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday December 3, 2022 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church   (389 Mt. Carmel Rd. Williamstown, KY 41097).  Funeral services will begin at 2:00 with Revs. Chris Turner, Howard Chipman  and Ronnie Angell officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.
