Sharon Nickell Merrill

Sharon Marie Nickell Merrill, an Independence resident, passed away on April 27, 2024 at the St. Elizabeth Hospice Center in Edgewood, KY at the age of 67. She was the wife of Billy Ray Merrill.

Sharon was born on July 6, 1956 in Dry Ridge, KY to the late Warner Nickell and Eloise Ackman Nickell.  She married Billy Ray Merrill on February 17, 1973.  Sharon is a former crew trainer for McDonald's in Dry Ridge, KY and a member of the Williamstown Church of God.  She was a homemaker most of her life.  She enjoyed shopping, watching the Cincinnati Bengals and attending yard sales.  She is described as a loving and caring woman whom loved to take care of other people.  Most of her pastime was spent with her family and grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

In addition to her husband Billy, she is survived by two sons, Jason Merrill, Troy (Jennifer) Merrill, one daughter, Melinda (Steven) Dallas, two brothers, Brian Nickell, Greg (Lisa) Nickell, four sisters, Virginia (Tony) Varner, Kathy Caldwell, Angie Rains, Margie (Donnie) Vickers, fifteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and her dog Zoey.  She was preceded in death by her son Ronnie Merrill, six brothers, Charles "Bubby", Henry, Miles, Larry, Jeff, Gary Lee Nickell, and three sisters, Teresa Caswell, Carolyn Davis and Ada Mae Kearns.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 11am-1pm at the Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown, KY.  Funeral services will be at 1pm.  Pastor Howard Chipman will be officiating.  Burial will follow at the Hill Crest Cemetery in Dry Ridge, KY.  Memorials are suggested to the St. Elizabeth Hospice Center, 483 S. Loop Rd., Edgewood, KY 41017.
