Steven James Hilligas

January 4, 1957 — January 28, 2025

Steven James Hilligas , 68, of Corinth, KY, passed away on Tuesday January 28, 2025 at his residence after an extended illness.  Born on January 4, 1957, in Covington, KY, he was the son of the late Charles Raymond and Ruth Ann McDaniel Hilligas.

On October 28, 1988 he was united in marriage to the former Jiman Lea Moller; she survives. After many years as an electrician, he retired from Mubea Inc. in Florence, KY. He had a genuine love for Bluegrass music; he was an avid coon and deer hunter, he enjoyed fishing and was a horse enthusiast, but being a “Papaw” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren was his greatest delight. He took his relationship with the Lord seriously; he and his family routinely gathered in the home of friends and family to have Bible Study and sing their favorite hymns.

Those left to caring on his legacy include his wife of 36 years, Jiman Hilligas; his children: Steven J. Hilligas of Erlanger, KY, Stephanie (Andrew) Sabelhaus of Crittenden, KY, Joseph Neal of Corinth, KY, Sarah (Walt) Sweet of Dry Ridge, KY; three brothers: Kenneth (Wrayjean) Hilligas, Tom Hilligas, Mark Hilligas, two sisters: Nancy Thompson and Judy (Bill) Grimm.  Also surviving are 15 grandchildren: Christany Ridiman, Kaleb Lovett, Nicole Hopkins, Ricky Isaacs, Noelle Isaacs, Destiny Hopkins, Zoe Burden, Abigail Hopkins, Hailey Hopkins, Benjamin Neal, Rachel Neal, Calvin Neal, Mary Kate Neal, Jodi Ann Neal and Matthew Neal, along with many great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Hilligas.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
