Thelma Kelly, a Sadieville, Kentucky resident, joined her beloved husband’s side in eternal rest on Thursday, April 4th, 2024 at the age of 78. She was born in Jeremiah, Kentucky on Saturday, September 8th, 1945 to the late Dewey and Mandy Blair. In addition to her parents, Thelma is preceded in death by her husband William, her five sisters: Myrtle Caudill, Ruby Adams, Alice Blair, Mable Snyder, and Juanita Web; as well as five of her brothers: Glyn Blair, Van Blair, Bueford Blair, Hobert Blair, and Blaine Blair.
Thelma is survived by her adoring older brother, Lyle Blair of LaFontaine, Indiana; together with her cherished niece Amanda (Jason) McKay, and Thelma’s four treasured great nieces and nephews: Jonathan Closson, Lillyanna McKay, Jason McKay Jr., and Addysonn McKay, all of Antwerp, Ohio.
Thelma was a devoted Christian and member of the First Presbyterian Church in Georgetown, Kentucky for many years. Though her health ultimately declined to the point where she could no longer attend services, she still faithfully read her bible and watched services on her television every Sunday. Thelma has been a contributing member and donor to The National Children’s Cancer Society since 2007, helping to provide emotional, financial, and educational support to children battling cancer and their families. When she wasn’t helping the children, she was rescuing all the animals she possibly could. Thelma, a true animal lover, over the years rescued and cared for dozens of cats and dogs at her home in Sadieville. It was clear that this incredibly altruistic, big hearted woman cared for every soul, big and small, in this world.
In Lexington, Kentucky on April 6th, 1967, Thelma married the love of her life, William Kelly Jr. The two would happily spend the next 47 years together until William’s passing in February of 2015. The two will once again be reunited as Thelma’s remains are to be scattered across their plots at Raven Creek Cemetery in Cynthiana, Kentucky at a private service held by her family.
