Timothy Neil Pickens was born March 6, 1958, in Lancaster, California, and passed away December 18, 2024, at his residence in Williamstown, Kentucky, at age 66. He was the son of the late Paul Frederick and Anita Marie (Harding) Pickens. As family and friends called him, Tim was a licensed electrician for many years, working the last 16 years at Northern Kentucky University, where he planned retirement in January. He served in the United States Navy from 1977-1983. In his spare time, Tim loved fishing, outdoor hobbies, spending time with his many pets over the years, and traveling. Cross-country trips were his favorite, and he made many memories with his family. He loved all sports and was an avid Seattle Seahawks fan. In his youth, he enjoyed playing baseball and hockey. As a man passionate about food, he loved trying new restaurants, especially delicious Mexican restaurants. Tim loved roasting his coffee beans while using his espresso machine to perfect his espresso shot for making lattes for anyone who visited. Tim enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others and always had a joke ready. On January 5, 2003, Tim was united in marriage to Karen Alice (Cantrell) Pickens. In addition to his wife of 21 years, he is survived by five daughters: Jennifer Pickens, Jenelle Pickens, Heather Pickens, Jennifer (Sean) Thompson, all of Washington State and Jessica (Kermit) Walker of Verona; 10 grandchildren: Kiyanna, Treyden, Amiyah, Jordyn, Jensyn, Leila, Mikayla, Roderick, Jocelyn and Evie; a brother: Jeff Pickens; two sisters: Sheila (Bob) Haley and Alesia Bryan; his mother-in-law: Alice Cantrell; a sister-in-law: Angie Cantrell; and a brother-in-law: Mike (Laura) Cantrell; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 PM, Friday, January 10, 2025, at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Williamstown, KY 41097. Funeral services will be at 12:00 PM, Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home. A burial will follow in the Williamstown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to your local animal shelter in honor of Tim’s love of all animals.
