Vernon Scott

Vernon Scott , 87, a resident of Dry Ridge, KY, passed away Thursday January 2, 2020 at his residence. Born on June 2, 1932 in Boone County, KY, he was the son of the late Wesley Warren and Mary Helen Noel Scott.

On December 21, 1953, Vernon was united in marriage to his “only love”, the former Jo Ann Yelton; she preceded him in death on February 28, 2011. He retired from Budig Trucking where he worked as an OTR Truck Driver. In his early years, he loved racing cars, but in later years other pastimes included farming, playing cards, telling stories, making crafts from fossil wood and fishing. He was a member of the Hopeful Lutheran Church in Florence, KY.

He leaves to mourn his passing, one son: Jeffrey Scott of Owenton, KY; two daughters: Debbie Jo (Gary) Fogle of Dry Ridge, KY and Diana (Frank) Forti of Greers Ferry, AR; one brother: Randolph Scott of Florence, KY and one sister: Mary Lou Fountain of Walton, KY. Eight grandchildren also survive: Shannon (Jarrod) Chappell of Owenton, KY, Ashley (Josh) Colson of Dry Ridge, KY, Miranda (Jody) Mullins of Cordova, KY, Gina Goodrich of Owenton, KY, Shane Scott of Owenton, KY, Chad (Ashley) Scott of Owenton, KY, Jessica Scott of Owenton, KY, Eric (Jennifer) Spille of Spicewood, TX, along with 13 great-grandchildren: Macie Chappell, Lexie Chappell, Avery Colson, Lilah Colson, Wesley Mullins, Warren Mullins, Molly Goodrich, Callie Dempsey, Bailee Scott, Landen Scott, Lindzee Scott, Austin Spille and Cash Spille. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Sedric Scott and Robert Glenn Scott and one sister: Phyllis Rhodes.

Visitation will be Tuesday January 7, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon at Hopeful Lutheran Church in Florence. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon with Rev. Blair Fields and Rev. Kelly Mongoven officiating. Interment will follow in the Hopeful Lutheran Church Cemetery.
