Willie Boyd Short Rigney

Willie Boyd Short Rigney was born February 11, 1933 in Evarts, Harlan Co., Kentucky and passed away May 13, 2019 at her residence in Union, Kentucky at the age of 86.  She was formerly a longtime resident of Crittenden, KY.  Willie was the daughter of the late John and Bettie Harris Short.

Willie was a retired maintenance employee for Holiday Inn.  She loved spending time outdoors doing yard work.  She also loved flowers and animals.  She will always be remembered as a independent mother with a strong work ethic.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 husbands: George Elliott Karr and Jerry James Rigney; 3 sisters: Zola, Nettie and Sarah; and 2 brothers: Garfield "Gar" and Tilman "Doc".

She is survived by her son: Jerry Karr (Sandra) of Union; 2 daughters: Rita Karr-Patten (Harry) of Boca Raton, FL and Kay Richey (Bruce) of Dry Ridge; 2 brothers: JD Short of Columbus, OH and Rob Short of Speedwell, TN; 3 grandchildren: Steve Martin (Cyndie), Danny Rigney (Kendra) and Kellie Karr-Cooper (Ben); 4 great grandchildren: Erika Martin, Matthew Martin, Brody Martin, and Haylee Rigney; and 1 great grandchild on the way: Ryker Rigney.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, May 17, 2019 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Crittenden.  Visitation will be 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at the Burlington Cemetery.
