Mrs. Wilma Jean Rabe of Verona, KY. passed away Saturday, March 2 at St. Elizabeth Florence at the age of 88. Mrs. Rabe was born June 13, 1930 in Mt. Zion, KY. to the late Hobart Varner and Helen Butler Varner. Mrs. Rabe was a homemaker and a farmer and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Warsaw, KY. Mrs. Rabe was very community oriented and formerly was a member of the Gallatin County Tuesday Morning Homemakers, the Warsaw Women's Club, formerly active with the PTA and Band Boosters in Boone County, and she was a former volunteer with St. Luke Hospital in Florence, KY. Mrs. Rabe enjoyed art, crafts, working in her garden, cooking and traveling out west with her late husband. Mrs. Rabe graduated from the Crittenden High School.
Mrs. Rabe married Richard Rabe on February 16, 1957 and he passed away March 5, 2018. She was also preceded in death by her parents and by brothers: Leonard Varner and Charles Varner.
Mrs. Rabe is survived by 4 sons: David Rabe and his wife Estella of The Woodlands, TX., Mark Rabe and his wife Tara of Verona, KY., Paul Rabe and his wife Lisa of Springfield, VA., Philip Rabe and his wife Cindy of Louisville, KY., a sister: Ann Kemper of Wyoming, OH., 10 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Wilma Jean Rabe will be 11:00 am Friday, March 8 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Warsaw, KY. with Rev. Jerry Witzemann officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, March 7 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm in the chapel of the Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Warsaw, KY.
Memorial contributions if desired may be directed to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund or to the Cincinnati Association for the Blind.
