George Newsome

Mr. George Newsome of Sadieville, KY. passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the Georgetown Community Hospital in Georgetown, KY. at the age of 74. Mr. Newsome was born June 7, 1940 in Pikeville, KY. to the late A. B. Newsome and Hannah Powell Newsome. Mr. Newsome formerly owned and operated the Gulf service station at Sadieville and worked in construction for the R. C. Durr Construction Co. in Northern Kentucky. At the time of his passing Mr. Newsome was a member of the Porter Christian Church in Scott County. Mr. Newsome enjoyed fishing, hunting, gun and knife collecting and going antiquing. In addition to his parents, Mr. Newsome was preceded in death by a daughter: Melissa Newsome in 1979 and by a son: George Allen Newsome in 2007. He was also preceded in death by a sister: Doris Callahan in 2011 and by a brother: Darrell Newsome in 2010. Mr. Newsome leaves to mourn his passing a daughter: Sondra Newsome of Dry Ridge, KY., 2 sisters: Lois Logan of Pikeville, KY. and Brenda Newsome of Pikeville, KY., 2 brothers: Harold Newsome of Cornettsville, KY. and Berry Newsome of Cumberland, KY. Funeral services for Mr. Newsome will be conducted 7:00 pm Thursday, July 10 in the chapel of the McDaniel Funeral Home, Corinth. Visitation will be there on Thursday from 3:00 - 7:00 pm. Burial will be at 11:00 am Friday at the Antioch Church Cemetery on Keefer Road at Corinth, KY. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Antioch Church Cemetery Fund.
