June 9, 1956 — August 15, 2023

Barbara Louise Avery, of Dry Ridge, Kentucky slipped peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. Barb was 67.

Barb was born to Maxine and Howard Donald Mathis in Kansas City, MO on June 9, 1956 living in Grandview, MO until age 29.  Barb was an accomplished bowler throughout her early years in Grandview, MO while working for the IRS and House of Lloyd. She was known as a loyal friend and dedicated worker throughout her life and found great joy with her dear friends at Comair, Delta and Staffmark in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her time bantering with her friends was always the highlight of her personal and professional life.

Barb also enjoyed watching birds and traveling. She liked going to the beach where she could watch and listen to the waves. Barb also enjoyed going to the Smokey Mountains and driving through Cades Cove.

Barb was preceded in death by her mother, father and husband, James Avery. She is survived by her daughter Tiffany LeHotta and her granddaughter Saretta Harrison of Dry Ridge, KY, her brothers Mike Mathis and wife Valerie, nieces and nephew from Raymore, Missouri and Gary Mathis and wife Lynn from St. Augustine, Florida.

Kishawna Woody and her children Skylar, Ashtyn, Dezaraye, Rayne, Conrad Jr. and Juliet were a constant presence in Barb’s life and a source of enduring joy.

Her sometimes stubborn, yet generous soul, and love for being with her daughter and granddaughter persevered until the end.  Barb (Gammy) dearly loved her granddaughter Saretta and thoroughly enjoyed watching her play softball and participate in archery.

Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her, until we meet again.
