Beverly Jo Rushing Searcy, age 75, of Atwood, KY, passed away Saturday October 22, 2022 at Village Care Center in Erlanger. Born Thursday September 18, 1947 in Covington, KY, she was the daughter of the late Jack C. and Becky Mattingly Rushing.
On August 15, 1969 she was united in marriage to Dwight Elbert Searcy; he preceded her in death on October 9, less than 2 weeks ago. She was a 1965 graduate of Walton-Verona High School; she received her Master’s Degree from University of KY. She and her late husband both retired as teachers at Simon Kenton High School; she taught Home Economics for many years. She was actively involved with Future Homemakers of America (FHA) where she served as a sponsor. She was a lifelong member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Verona. Many of her interests included collecting antiques, dolls, cooking, sewing and crafts, but she will best be remembered for the many practical jokes she lovingly played on her family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Dwight, she is preceded in death by a brother, Christopher J. Rushing. She is survived by a daughter: Victoria Jeanne (Charles) Block-Hyde of Verona, KY; a son: Morgan Wade (Rachel Ann) Searcy of Cincinnati, OH; a sister: Barbara (Dennis) Rushing Chipman, along with four grandchildren: Joey, Chris, Dylan and Lincoln.
A joint “Celebration of Life” will be held for both Beverly and her husband, Dwight, on Friday December 2, 2022 at 12 Noon at Stanley Funeral Homes - Verona with Dr. Timothy Searcy officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 and continue until the time of the funeral. A private burial will take place at New Bethel Cemetery.
