Clay Davis Crupper , 83, passed away from his earthly home in Dry Ridge surrounded by family and friends. Clay was born October 12, 1935 in Owen County to the late A.C. and Lucille (Davis) Crupper.

Clay was an avid tobacco farmer and milk hauler. In 1956, Clay met the love of his life, Mary Margaret Stewart while he was picking up canned milk from area farmers. They married a short time after on December 14, 1956. In March 1963, Clay and his brother, Don Crupper, began their 30-year milk hauling business, Crupper Brothers Milk Hauling. Clay’s political journey began by serving on Dry Ridge City Council from 1964-1974.  He was elected State Representative of the 61 st District for 18 years (1974-1992).  Clay returned to Dry Ridge and served as Mayor from 2007-2014 and then continued as an active City Council Member from 2017-present.  He was also a 20-year volunteer with the Dry Ridge Fire Department, member of Dry Ridge Baptist Church and a member of the Grant County Democratic Party.

Clay is survived by his wife, Mary Stewart Crupper of 62 years; daughters Diana (Tony) Morgan and Wanda (Dewayne) Hammons of Dry Ridge; son Calvin (Jackie) Crupper of Crittenden; brother Don Crupper of Williamstown and sister Joyce Clifford of Cynthiana; 5 grandchildren: Brian Hammons, Craig Hammons, Boston Crupper, Morgan Crupper, Kelli Owings; 8 great grandchildren also survive.

In addition to his parents, Clay was preceded in death by his brother, David Crupper in 1977.

Services will be held at Dry Ridge Baptist Church with visitation from 2pm-8pm on Saturday, June 22 nd with additional visitation Sunday, June 23 rd from 2pm-3pm with a funeral service following at 3pm. A committal service will be held on Friday June 28 at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers being Brian Hammons, Craig Hammons, Boston Crupper, Aaron Owings, Kim Crupper,  Kevin Crupper, Tony Hall, Dan Clifford, Ben Clifford and G.T. Whaley.  Richard James will serve as Honorary Pallbearer.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to: Dry Ridge Soup Kitchen, Dry Ridge Fire Department or Meeting the Needs in Owenton.
