Funeral services will be Thursday February 1, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home in Dry Ridge with Rev. Steve Kellam officiating. A native of Grant County, KY, David was born January 8, 1941; he was the son of the late Opal and Catherine Chipman Osborne. On September 28, 1963, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Jonesville, he married the love of his life, the former Martha Ann Richerson; they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past September. He retired after 25 years with Schlumberger in Owenton but being a lifelong farmer provided him his greatest satisfaction and fulfillment. He also loved working on antique tractors, fishing and watching the Cincinnati Reds, but his greatest enjoyment in life came from taking his grandchildren, whom lovingly called him “Papaw”, to McDonald’s and routinely running them on all those ice cream stops. He was a member of Jonesville Methodist Church.
He leaves to carry on his legacy, his wife and helpmate, Martha Ann Osborne; four daughters: Michelle Collins of Jonesville, Stephanie (Eddie, Jr.) Elliott of Leonard, MI, Crystal Lower of Dry Ridge, Rissa (Brandon) King of Dry Ridge; one brother: Roy (Shirley) Osborne and two sisters: Marilyn James and Martha Jean Sullivan, all of Jonesville. Ten grandchildren also survive: William Collins, Nicholas Elliott, Brandon Elliott, Christopher Collins, McKayla Chappell, Lola Lower, Danika King, Devin King, Jesse Lower and Darren King, along with four great-grandchildren: Kash Whalen, Waylon Collins, Kaylyn Collins and Angellena Chappell. He was preceded in death a brother, Richard Osborne.
Memorial contributions may be made in David’s memory to: Alzheimer’s Foundation, 644 Linn Street, Suite 1026, Cincinnati, OH 45203.
