James "Terry" Lawson

James “Terry” Lawson, 58, of Verona, KY, died unexpectedly on Saturday March 25, 2023 at his residence.  Born on November 12, 1964 in Covington, KY, he was the son of James Willard Lawson and the late Ella Jean Smith Lawson.

On June 22, 1991 in Crittenden, Terry was united in marriage to the former Tina Ann Curtis; she survives. He was a self-employed construction contractor. Being an avid sports fan and outdoorsman, he loved playing softball, fishing and hunting, but he will long be remembered for being a huge U.K. Basketball and Dallas Cowboys enthusiast. However, nothing could parallel with his love for his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren, all of whom lovingly called him, “Papaw”. He was a member of the Indiana State Council of Plasterers & Cement Masons.

He leaves to carry on his legacy of love, his wife of 31 years, Tina Lawson; four daughters: Kelly Renee (Luke) Wolfinbarger of Verona, Terry Lynn (Chris) Jump of Dry Ridge, Kerry Jean (Matthew) Monroe of Walton, Kaitlin Rachel Lawson and her fiancé, Ethan Ramsey of Verona and one sister: Freida (John) Perks of Verona.  Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Aubrey Kelly, Jayden Kelly, Hayden Gavin, Levi Monroe, Ellie Ramsey, Harper Jump, Knox Monroe and Piper Jump. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter: Alesha Hope Lawson and a sister: Deine Lawson.

Visitation will be held Thursday March 30, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home – Verona.  Funeral services will begin at 1:00 with Rev. Harold Gambrell officiating. Burial will follow in Napoleon Cemetery.
