Joyce Ann Hurston

Joyce Ann Hurston , 67, of Corinth, KY, was called to her heavenly home on Friday July 14, 2023 at her residence after a lengthy illness.  Joyce was born in Louisville, KY on November 10, 1955 to the late Rev. Charles Edward and Shirley Ann Sheeley Lakes.

She was a loving wife for 27 wonderful years to Claude Estil Hurston and a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a fine Christian lady and an inspiration to everyone that knew her; her husband fondly described her as a “Precious Lady”.  Family was very important to her but more important was her love for the Lord and her walk with Him.  She will long be remembered as being “the best cook” ever.

A service celebrating Joyce’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on July 19, 2023 at Stanley Funeral Homes – Williamstown with Rev. Steve Coomer officiating. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. and go until the time of the funeral.

In addition to her husband, Claude, she is survived by two sons: Stephen Charles (Amanda Thayer) Olson of Corinth, Chris Hurston of Dry Ridge; two daughters: Leslie (Geoff Musgrave) Hurston of Williamstown, Rebecca (Tony) Smith of Ft. Meyers, FL; two sisters: Sandy (Tim) Harrell of Williamstown; Sharon Annette Lakes of Williamstown; one brother: Terry Edward (Jennie) Lakes of Hillview, KY along with her precious grandchildren: Devin Olson, Kyland Olson, Kierra Olson, Reign Dumas, Justice Olson, Parker Olson, Dymon Smith, Ariel Smith, Jayda Smith, Sophia Saylor, Arabella Saylor, Mikayla Thayer, Hannah Monhollen, Aaron Patrick Monhollen, Clinton Gullion, Dakota Hurston and two great-grandchildren, all of whom lovingly called her “Nana”.  She also leaves behind her American Bully, “Romeo” aka “Boo”. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Jerry Edward Lakes and Paul Wesley Lakes.
