Judy Cress

January 22, 1958 — January 16, 2023

Judy Cress of Dry Ridge, Kentucky, passed away at her residence on Monday, January 16th, 2023 at the age of 64. She was born at St. Elizabeth Hospital of Covington, Kentucky on Wednesday, January 22nd, 1958 to the late Gale and Nadine Hon. Along with her parents, Judy is preceded in death by her brother, Mickey Griggs. She is survived by her sister, Linda Pierce of Sanders, KY; as well as her two adoring children, Faleesha Cress and Quintin Sheldon of Dry Ridge, KY. Judy leaves a legacy of her beloved grandchild, Abi Smith.

A BIG coffee drinker all of her days, Judy loved to welcome each morning with a mug of it in hand, inhaling the fresh, earthly air while embracing the splendor of the world that surrounded her. She picked the woods and mountains over a beach any day. Her heart will always reside in a cabin out in the woods, hiking the trails of Red River Gorge, and camping alongside the birds and beauty of Mother Nature. One of the most fun experiences of her life, or a day that almost killed her 10 years prior (depending on what kind of day she was having when she reminisced about it), was the white water rafting trip to West Virginia with her daughter.

A true animal lover and rescuer throughout her entire life, Judy was surrounded by her children and her cherished fur babies in her final moments. Her entire world revolved around her kids and adopted animals. A week before her own passing, her precious mixed hound, Homar, departed from her side. A small, tight knit family with no shortage of love for one another, nature, and the creatures that inhabit it. What they lacked in size they made up for in love- cherishing the moments they made and the memories they shared with one another.

“Mean as a rattlesnake, sweet as an angel, and tough as nails- that was her.”

Services for Judy will be conducted at a later date at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations are suggested to Grant County Animal Shelter, (Friends of a Shelter).
