Kay Evans

Kay Evans, 79, of Corinth, KY, entered into the arms of her loving Savior on Tuesday January 30, 2024 at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer.  Born on May 30, 1944 in Corinth, KY, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Ada Catherine Mason Hammond.

Kay was a 1962 graduate of Owen County High School.  On September 20, 1969, she was united in marriage to Danny Lee Evans; this union proved to be a beautiful and long-lasting relationship for 55 years.  Anytime an opportunity opened up to go shopping, she jumped at that opportunity, but her greatest legacy will be her love for people, going to church and sharing her faith and being a witness for her Lord and Savior. Singing Southern Gospel music brought much joy and peace to her life as well as many others. She began singing with the Promised Land Gospel Group (which consisted of Mark & Mary Knight and Kay’s husband, Danny) and later formed the group known as Southern Echo (which consisted of Linda Colson, Kitty Fields and Kay). She was a member of Canby Tabernacle in Corinth.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband and soulmate, Danny Evans, along with a host of friends.  She was preceded in death by a brother: Zemer Hammond and a sister: Glenna Rose Dixon.

Visitation will be Friday February 2, 2024 at McDaniel Funeral Home in Corinth from 11:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m.  Funeral services will begin at 2:00 with Rev. Russell Vance officiating. Burial will follow in Corinth Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Kay’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
