Mary Stricker Swarthwood

Mary Janice Stricker Swarthwood was born Aug. 6 1934 in Covington, Kentucky and passed away Apr. 28, 2021 in Edgewood, Kentucky at the age of 86.  She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Gladys Himes Stricker.

On July 8, 1952 Mary was united in marriage to Willis "Bill" Swarthwood. He preceded her in death in 1990.  She is survived by 2 sons: Willis (Donna LeBaron) Swarthwood, II of Titusville, FL and Anthony (Linda) Swarthwood of Hamilton, OH; a daughter: Veyann (Tim) Henry of Williamstown, KY; a brother: James Stricker of Dry Ridge; a sister: Beverly (Anthony) Durham of Nashville, IN; 5 grandchildren: Willis Swarthwood, III, Aidan Swarthwood, Jacob Swarthwood, Dave Henderson and Heather Recher; and 7 great grandchildren.

Mary was a member of the St. Timothy Catholic Church in Union.  She retired as an Executive Secretary for the United States Government having worked at the Pentagon.  She loved playing Scrabble and will be remembered by her family as the Champion.

Visitation will be 12:00 - 1:30 PM, Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 2, 2021 at the St. William Catholic Church in Williamstown with Father Benton Clift officiating.  The burial will follow in the Williamstown Cemetery.
