Thomas Sherman Douglas

October 30, 1927 — January 2, 2023

Thomas Sherman Douglas, 95, of Jonesville, KY, passed away Monday January 2, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center – Edgewood. Born October 30, 1927 in Knoxville, TN, he was the son of the late Albert Buford Carter and Essie Mae Self Douglas.

On July 4, 1948, Thomas was united in marriage to the former Freddie Mae Anderson; she preceded him in death on April 3, 2020 after 72 years of marriage.  He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1945-47.  In his early years he taught at Northern Kentucky Vocational School where he taught Machine Shop, Blueprint Reading and General Math and also drove a school bus.  On August 31, 1988 he retired from General Electric in Evandale, OH.  He earned his 40 year Masonic Pin with the Grant Lodge 85 F & AM; he was a member of the Local 647 UAW Union and the Dry Ridge Christian Church, but his greatest love and satisfaction came from working his farm and being a dedicated husband and father.

He leaves to carry on his legacy, three sons: Tommy (Kyla) Douglas of Dry Ridge, Ronnie Douglas of Jonesville, Jerry (Joyce) Douglas of Foster and a sister: Alberta Douglas of Knoxville, TN.  In addition to his wife, Freddie, he was preceded in death by one brother: Edward Douglas and two sisters: Essie Ruth Fraker and Betty Jo Blankenship.

Visitation will be held Saturday January 7, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m.at Stanley Funeral Homes – Williamstown.  Masonic Rites will begin at 2:00 followed by the funeral service. He will be laid to rest next to his wife, Freddie, at Jonesville International Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F.) Cemetery, where full Military Honors will be observed.

Memorial contributions may be made in Thomas' memory to Grant Lodge 85 F & AM.
